Vaio X, Lightweight 11-inch

If the recent line Go Mini W Sony has made its entrance , almost unwillingly, into the world of netbooks , the ultralight just unveiled the Vaio X Japanese giant back to rocking the boat in one of the segments most congenial to him : that the subnotebook with price above $ 1000 .
Performed last week at IFA 2009 in Berlin, is X Vaio laptop(Sony VGP-BPS9/B) that combines a 11.1-inch screen , common to several of the latest netbook , with a carbon fiber chassis . Unlike other family Vaio subnotebook models , the model X tip all about lightness and size : it weighs just 690 grams and in fact the thickness of the shell is about half an inch (almost 1.4 cm) , just enough to accommodate the VGA port provided.

Although Vaio X has a screen a bit ' smaller, it is natural to compare it with the ultra-thin Apple , the MacBook(Macbook Pro battery) Air Characterized by a weight of 1.36 kg and a thickness of 0.4 cm (front ) and 1.9 cm ( rear) .
Despite the lightweight , Vaio X does not sacrifice their independence, thanks to a battery of Stamina 4100 mAh (31 Wh) dovebbre ensure a day's work .
The design of the Vaio X is elegant but simple , no frills , and the surface of the case has the distinction of not retain fingerprints . The model presented in Berlin was black, but Sony has already announced that at the time of its commercial launch , the handset will be available in at least one other color .
On the front of the laptop(GK479 ) there is a SD card reader , a card reader Memory Stick Duo and classic status indicators. On the left side of the case are present the power connector , two USB 2.0 ports, audio jacks and a docking system anti-theft Kensington. Right, finally found a VGA port and Gigabit Ethernet.
The keyboard is like an island , with keys well spaced , accompanied by a square touchpad with two buttons of generous proportions. In the upper right corner of the frame around the keyboard is the power button , integrating a green LED , while the two hinges of the screen are four status lights and on / off switch for WiFi . At the top of the screen then could not miss a Motion Eye webcam (presumably with a resolution of 1.3 million pixels) , used for video calls , take pictures and record videos.
The sample of Vaio X shown at the IFA was equipped with 2 GB of RAM and an Atom processor , but Sony has stated that the technical specifications of its notebook(Dell Inspiron 6400 battery) puppy may still be subject to change . For example , instead of an Atom CPU models that reach the market could mount an Intel CULV : it would provide better performance at the expense of battery life. The VGA port may instead give way to a more modern HDMI, and standard laptop should be a 3G modem .
It is possible that Sony decides to bring trade more than one version of Vaio X , satisfying consumers with extensive in this way more diverse. If we know more in early October, when Sony revealed the full specifications of Vaio X. The product launch is scheduled one week after market launch of Windows 7, The operating system that will pre -installed on new Sony subnotebook .
Regarding the price, when there is no official information yet , but rumors say that starting from about $ 2,000 (1400 euros plus taxes ) . For comparison , the MacBook Air from 1.86 GHz and 120 GB hard drive costs 1,400 euros, while the 2.13 GHz model with 128 GB SSD costs 1700 euros. The ultra-thin Dell rivals Air, has a price ranging from 1700 to 2300 euros.
Although the final version of the product were to use an Atom processor , Vaio X can not be called a netbook anyway : its price is in fact at least three times and its design clearly courting an audience that likes to stand out or for work purposes live in symbiosis with their notebook(HP Pavilion DV6000 battery) .
